The Jr. Volunteer Summer program at Gove County Medical Center's LTC has been in place for many years. During the 2014 summer, there were 50 children that gave up part of their summer to come and spend time with the elders at the LTC. The Jr. Volunteers ranging in age from 9-15, held many different job duties. Some of these duties included, but were not limited to:
helping pass meal trays
walking with and pushing the elders to and from meals
visiting one on one with the elders
putting together puzzles or playing games such as garbage bag volleyball
Sharing ice cream, popcorn and other goodies with the elders while sitting with them during a movie
Taking our facility dog "Lucky" for much-needed walks outside
Anyone interested in being a Jr. Volunteer should call 785-754-5141.
